There is so much discussion about grain fed versus grass fed cattle, but here on our farm we choose to grain feed the cattle we sell for freezer meat for many reasons.

The grain is raised here on the farm from field corn seeds sold by LG Seeds.
- A suppliment of vitamins & minerals is ground in with the grain which makes for a healthy mixture.
- To entice the cattle to eat more grain than pasture grass we also add molasses to make it sweet.
- They also get hay that was baled here on the farm as well.
The bull and cows are all on pasture, but through the winter will receive bales of hay as well. We occasionally buy them mineral tubs as a treat. Oh do they love those!
We can’t consider our cattle organic by any means, but I can say that our cattle are antibiotic, hormone, and preservative free.
